If you have owned a website before contacting us then the very fact you are here reading this today indicates there is a good chance you had a bad experience with that company. Maybe the website they build didn't look good (See Website Design) or maybe it did not rank well in the search engines (See Website Optimization). There could be all kinds of reasons. But one of those we found was most common was that people (like you perhaps) were getting monthly fees that did them absolutely no good. | ||

Many companies charge a fee ranging from $100 - $600 a month for submitting your website to the search engines. In our experience this fee is a complete and total rip off. Once your website has been seen by the search engines there is no need to submit it again every month. For websites that having been properly optimized for the search engines (Google) all it takes is to submit your website one time for the search engines to see your website and that's it. Search engines don't forget your website every month. So there is no need to introduce (submit) the website again every month. In fact, we suspect that many companies that charge this monthly fee do nothing each month in regards to this fee except take your money and put it in their pockets. | ||

The actual maintenance of an existing website is very minimal. It pretty much consists of checking your website for broken links every few weeks (something we have found that 90 percent of website companies do not do anyway even if they are charging the fee) and correcting a misspelled word every now and then when someone points it out to you. Maintenance is so easy that we check the links (and fix them) and fix the occasional typo free of charge. If we can do it for free... Why pay our competition to do it? | ||

There is probably no bigger rip-off that companies that charge hundreds if not thousands of dollars a month for a website based on website content. This most often happens to doctors, dentists, etc... where the website contains a lot of text. The problem with this is that the text on your website is likely to be the same on many other doctors, dentists, etc's... websites. And since the text is not original Google and the other search engines will pretty much ignore the text and treat your website as if it was full of blank pages (See section on Original Text). The end result is a website on what amounts to a monthly lease that between zero and a few people from the search engines. The long term cost of these type of sites isn't just a lifetime of high monthly fees. It's the cost of all the new customers/clients/patients you did not get from Google and the other Search Engines. | ||

We do not charge our clients a hosting fee. Instead we refer them to a company that does a much better job that we can do. For $10 a month they get unlimited usage, unlimited email, 3,000 email addresses, free stats and all kinds of extras. For an additional $5 a month they can also get a Unique IP Address (something we highly recommend). So in effect we do not have any monthly fees. At all. And we suggest that if you are paying more than $15 or $20 a month for hosting that you can go and buy your own hosting. Of course your website company will try to discourage this, but often it has more to do with their profits and less to do with your website. In fact, there is only one valid reason we have seen for a company to host yourself themselves and that is to allow them to spend less time uploading and downloading your website. That is an advantage. The disadvantage is that if they go on vacation, leave for the weekend or something happens late at night to the server at their home or place of business then your website may stop working and will not stop working until someone from the company fixes it. And having a server crash, taking your website down with it, is not a pleasant experience. | ||

We charge clients for the time we spend building or modifying their website which is a process that they control and make the decision on. As for the rest, we simply do not believe that there is a valid reason to charge you a monthly fee when there is nothing that actually needs to be done to your website. In fact, we have many sites that have been online for years and years since we last sent them any kind of bill and our clients are still sitting at number one in Google for the products and services they sell. | ||
