Most people understand that it is important for their websites to rank high in Google and the other search engines to attract visitors (and profits) to their websites. They also understand that these keywords should relate to their products and services. But, most people use the "GUESS" system to decide on what words their website should target. Unfortunately, guessing can cost you a huge amount in lost sales. For example if a lawyer / attorney was building a website and realized it would be impossible to rank in Google for both words with a single website they would "guess" which one most people would search for. What they may not realize is that in some cities 70% of people search for the word attorneys and only 30% lawyers. In other cities this is reversed and 70% search for the word lawyers and only 30% attorneys. Guessing wrong could result in missing out on tens of thousands of dollars a year even if the website ends up at number one. |

It's simply too much use of Google's computer resources to store every little cities information regarding every word. So keep in mind a little trick. Pick a big city in your part of the country. Do a search for the product or service keyword for that city. Find the result. Then find the ratio of people in that city versus the number of people in your city and do the math to find an approximate number of searches for your city. |
